Teaching and Learning in Information and Communication Technology and Modern Foreign Languages (weblink), Chatterton, J. and Willan, C. (2002) in Willis, A. (ed.) (2002) Proceedings of SITE 2002: Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education International Conference 2002, pp13-17

This paper refers to collaborative work between student teachers of information and communication technology (ICT) and student teachers of modern languages. The two groups of students had to work together during university-based sessions and in pairs during school placements and produce ICT-based language learning activities. The project was also extended to integrate work with a group of students in a German University, through the use of an online conference.

Since 1998 government regulations require that all student teachers become independent in their use of ICT and much money has been invested for this purpose.

The paper will be of interest to initial teacher training providers interested in developing new ways of supporting their modern languages student teachers in the development of their ICT knowledge and skills.
